GREATER ROCKVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HIGHLIGHTS LOCAL NONPROFITS
Use the extra day to take a leap of kindness and support our local nonprofits.

ROCKVILLE, MD — February 29, 2024 — The Greater Rockville Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) is excited to announce Leap of Kindness Day, a day that recognizes the extra day the leap year brings as an opportunity to do something good for the community. Leap of Kindness Day was invented by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce in 2016, and dozens of area employers and hundreds of their employees donated time, talent, and treasure to support local nonprofits, seniors, first responders, health care workers, veterans, and animal shelters. In 2020, more than 200 communities in the US, Canada, and Ireland participated in Leap of Kindness Day, with the hope that more will do so in 2024.

The GRCC chose to participate again this year to shine a spotlight on our nonprofit members. Current economic conditions are creating challenges for some nonprofits that could use additional support from financial and in-kind donations as well as volunteering.

GRCC’s CEO Marji Graf shared, “The greater Rockville area has a thriving business community as well as local nonprofit organizations doing amazing work for the community. By encouraging our members to come together and support our nonprofits, we can truly make an impact.”

The Chamber is encouraging individuals and businesses to participate in this campaign to connect with nonprofits and provide needed support. Some participating nonprofits include The Arc Montgomery, Comfort Cases, Interfaith Works, Manna Food Center, and Stepping Stones Shelter. Visit the Greater Rockville Chamber of Commerce to learn more about the participating nonprofits and how best to get involved.

Teri Blandon, the Director of Development of Interfaith Works said, “We’re excited to be part of the Chamber’s Leap of Kindness campaign this year. It provides us with a platform to spread awareness of our mission and connect with our local businesses for support in helping our neighbors.”

The Greater Rockville Chamber of Commerce is excited to take a ‘leap of kindness’ by supporting and providing more visibility for Rockville area nonprofits and will continue this campaign through May 22, 2024, and will celebrate our businesses and nonprofit successes at our Cocktails & Commerce 50’s party at Best Western Premier in Rockville.
