Geneva Day School’s “A Cosmic Affair” Spring Auction Promises Out-of-this-World Fundraising for a Great Cause

This March 14, Geneva Day School tilts its telescope to a very special “event horizon" called "A Cosmic Affair." Also known as the school's Spring Auction, parents, staff, and friends will convene at Congressional Country Club in support of the school's award-winning programs and generous scholarship fund.

    “I think the children inspire us to be out-of-this-world with all their enthusiasm for learning,” stated Director Daisy Lizama, when reflecting on the Auction theme.

    “The energy they (the children) bring to school everyday is remarkable. . .  The kids’ creativity and imagination always lead us to explore a little more here on Earth,” she said.

    Truly, exploration of an inter-galactic variety is set to take place through a star-spangled venue. Decorations, balloons, and floral arrangements will simulate the beauty and majesty of deep space. Appetizers, drinks, and a pasta dinner may even symbolize “string theory.” Everyone will be brought together for a great cause.

    When asked how she settled upon this year’s innovative theme, Auction Chair Mrs. Katie Howard replied, “I just loved the concept of. . . a nice, moody vibe with the idea we're having a night under the stars.”

    Such a night will include exciting items and irresistible experiences for bidding. An outing in DC? A golf package? Baskets cleverly curated by individual Geneva classes? Check, check, check!

    Generous contributions from parents and local businesses make these possible. Additional support from magnanimous sponsors also shape the trajectory of this special launch.  

    Aside from the thrill of the bid, the joy of mingling, and the treat of such a multidimensional setting, attendees will revel in the knowledge they support a wonderful mission.   “Prospective parents should know Geneva is the most warm, welcoming, comfortable, and thoughtful school,” stated Mrs. Howard.

    This she first discovered when contemplating schools for her children. “My son is currently enrolled and my daughter will attend next year.  . .  What I love about (Geneva) is that they know every child. They cater to each child. No two children are the same. They know this and they truly love kids. That's why I love sending my children.”

    Geneva Day School continues to accept applications for Academic Year 2026-27. Summer Camp registration remains underway.
