Announcing The Bean Bag at Main Street!
After years of serving the community with smiles, delicious treats, and a welcoming gathering space, we couldn’t be prouder of the legacy of Soulfull Café. That’s why we’re thrilled to share that we’ve partnered with The Bean Bag to continue this mission — expanding offerings and hours in a new café venture, The Bean Bag at Main Street!
Beginning on Tuesday, November 4, The Bean Bag Deli & Catering Co. will be taking over the space and changing things up a bit. Think iced cappuccinos and lattes, a slew of signature sandwiches (including triple deckers, a steak and cheese and a veggie roll-up), salads made on the spot, fresh soups (Maryland crab, anyone?), a hot dog bar, and six flavors of freshly baked cookies each day, everything from Snickerdoodle to red velvet white chocolate chunk.
Stop by this week to grab a smoothie or lunch and celebrate Soulfull Café before its last day open to the public on Friday, October 24.
“We can’t wait to partner with The Bean Bag at Main Street,” says Main Street’s Executive Director Tara Owens. “Their extensive and delicious menu will bring even more vibrancy to our community. With extended hours from 7am to 3pm, The Bean Bag will create more opportunities for neighbors, members and guests to come together, connect, and enjoy this welcoming space where everyone belongs.”
The Bean Bag’s owner, Mitchell Wool, is excited to open the new store, where he’ll continue to work with the staff and maintain the cafe’s style and decorative touches: the photos of members and staff, the shelves full of games, the writing on the wall. Wool is committed to inclusive employment practices and is eager to continue employing staff with disabilities, learn new strategies to strengthen inclusive leadership, and work alongside Main Street’s existing team to model what inclusive employment can look and feel like.
The Bean Bag was founded in 1977 by Wool’s parents, who had visited a local store in Maine that seemed like the ideal gathering place and were inspired to create their own. The family has had several Bean Bag locations throughout the years, and currently has one store on E. Gude Drive in Rockville. “We already have so many relationships—with the mayor, with the City of Rockville, with the Rockville Chamber, with Rockville Economic Development, I know all of them,” says Wool, who grew up in Rockville. “I think it’s gonna be a natural transition. I think it’s gonna be very exciting for people in Rockville. They already know us, we have a good reputation. That is one of the things I’m most proud about is our reputation.”
“We want to create an environment where the people of Main Street feel welcome at The Bean Bag,” he says. “We’re all about the community.”
The Bean Bag at Main Street will be open Monday through Friday from 7am to 3pm starting on Tuesday, November 4.
