About Us

Torchy’s Tacos began 18 years ago in Austin, Texas, when founder Mike Rypka set out to create tacos that were anything but ordinary. With a food trailer, a bold red Vespa, and a dream, Mike crafted innovative, flavor-packed tacos that quickly earned the “Damn Good” stamp of approval from fans. Since then, Torchy’s has grown to 130 locations across 15 states, bringing our unique tacos, crave-worthy queso, and refreshing margaritas to communities across the country.

In 2024, we rolled into Rockville, MD, ready to make our mark as more than just a taco spot – we’re a part of this community. Rockville welcomed us with open arms, and we’ve been proud to serve up scratch-made meals with high-quality ingredients for taco lovers, families, students, and local businesses alike.

Here in Rockville, we’re not just serving tacos; we’re building connections. From celebrating Taco of the Month – our ever-changing, creative taco offerings – to hosting friends over a round of margs and queso, Torchy’s Rockville has become a place where neighbors gather, stories are shared, and new traditions are made.
