Overview
Potomac Community Village (PCV) is currently an all-volunteer nonprofit with a mission of enabling older Potomac-area residents to safely age in place in our existing homes, make new social connections, and remain as active and engaged members of our local community. We celebrated our 10th anniversary in May 2022, and are part of the national “Village Movement” that began in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston in 2002.
In addition to directly serving our members, PCV also works to enhance the quality of life for all members of our community, frequently offering free events with speakers who address topics of interest. Our network of volunteers offers our members assistance with practical needs such as transportation, errand running, computer problems, simple home tasks, pet care and friendly visits and phone calls. Our goal is to provide social, educational and wellness programs for our members, to make sure that no one is isolated in their homes.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and have partnered with middle- and high school students who assist our members with computers, smart phones and tablets, and, when we were able to hold in-person meetings, entertained us with musical events and participated in intergenerational programming.
