VisArts' 11th Annual Rockville Arts Festival will be held Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7 from 10 AM-5 PM in Rockville Town Square - rain or shine! Admission is free.

The Festival will feature 130 fine artists and artisans, art demonstrations, a community art activity, artisanal fare, festival food, craft beer, wine, and more. Stroll the Square, shop for one-of-a-kind art, and visit with new and returning artists, like award winners John Carraher, Ruchi Gupta, Rosa Murillo, Pratibha Sane, Alex Stanik, and Carolyn Thome.

JOHN CARRAHER: PAINTING

Jon Carraher is a mostly self-taught artist and illustrator from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Although he started on a more traditional career path, Carraher pursued his passion for creating art that reflects and enhances the natural world. The majority of his work is fantasy-oriented and inspired by nature, folklore, and legends.

RUCHI GUPTA: CERAMICS

Ruchi Gupta creates contemporary yet ethnic, decorative yet functional, casted yet handmade ceramics. Her work crosses borders from East to West and incorporates culture, history, symbols, motifs, architecture, evolution, nature, colors, and texture. Gupta draws on paper, screen prints on clay, hand paints, and add words. Her organic ceramic forms are both decorative and functional, and her unique artistic practice ensures that each piece is one-of-a-kind.

ROSA MURILLO: JEWELRY

Rosa Murillo is an artist with a degree in architecture. She creates beautiful, wearable objects from reclaimed and unusual materials. Her current line of jewelry combines gold, silver, copper, and brass with hand-colored resin and wood. The pieces are exciting, sculptural, and surprisingly light. 

PRATIBHA SANE: PAINTING

Pratibha Sane is influenced by traditional Warli folk art, which speaks to the significance of every person's relationship with nature and the community. Her paintings, which represent Warli social life, are a tribal mode of expression and a medium for cultural transmission. Sane paints candle holders, wine bottles, and other functional objects so that this uniquely beautiful art form may be enjoyed every day. 

ALEX STANIK: WOOD

Alex Stanik is a third-generation wood furniture craftsman. Employing traditional and contemporary woodworking techniques, he combines live-edge lumber and epoxy resin to create classic furniture with a modern twist. The live-edge slabs highlight the grain of the wood and highlight the organic origin of the finished piece, and the epoxy pours evoke rhythm and flow to portray movement in the design. 

CAROLYN THOME: PHOTOGRAPHY

Carolyn Thome is a master macro photographer. From her first Instamatic to her current DSLR, Thome's cameras capture moments - the small subtleties of life that call to be noticed and documented. She's passionate about high-definition macro photography of natural objects, such as flowers, fungi, and feathers.
