This Lunch & Learn is sponsored by Shulman Rogers and will discuss estate planning.
Estate Planning: The Basics
Justin DeVault, Esq.
Proper estate planning gives you control over important financial and personal decisions. It
can help you and your family to preserve your legacy and accomplish goals even after you
pass away. Whether you are working or retired, single or married, wealthy or not, you will
see that careful estate planning can benefit you! Tax law changes have caused many people
to develop an effective estate planning strategy and others to re-evaluate and update their
plan.
Justin will walk through the basics of estate planning and educate attendees about some of
the different elements an estate plan might include.
About Justin
Justin A. DeVault uses comprehensive estate and tax planning to help clients plan for the
future. By working closely with clients throughout the various stages of their lives, he helps
them preserve wealth for future generations by protecting the assets they have worked hard to
accumulate, while minimizing federal and state estate tax liability.
In addition to estate planning, Justin also guides personal representatives/executors and
trustees through all aspects of the estate and trust administration processes.
Clients appreciate that Justin quickly responds to their questions and provides a sense of calm
during times of turmoil. Here are some comments from a few of Justin’s recent clients:
“You were amazing with helping me get everything done and never seemed bothered with
the number of questions I had! When everything in my life became an unknown, I really
appreciated your quick responses – no matter the day or time.”
“This was quite a journey, and I know I could not have navigated through the legal and
probate process without your help. I think the most helpful part was how you always listed,
step by step, what I needed to do to complete certain phases of the overall process.”
Justin is frequently called upon to speak at estate planning seminars and workshops, including
FMT Solutions’ Retirement Planning Today. In the legal community, he Chairs the Estates and
Trusts Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association and is an active member of the
Maryland State Bar Association. Justin also serves as co-chair of the Young Professional
Advisory Committee of the Greater Washington Community Foundation.
