9th Annual Rockstar Awards

The Greater Rockville Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual award dinner, the GRCC Rockstar Awards, on November 7, 2024, and present awards in the following categories:
 
Small Business of the Year Award recognizes a company that has been in business for at least five years with revenue under $5M. Specific criteria include flexibility, innovation, and a proven, unique business and marketing strategy that has benefited the Rockville community.

This year's winner is Our Gift Biz and the award will be presented by the 2023 Small Business of the Year Intelligent Office
 
Large Business of the Year Award recognizes a company committed to the vitality and community in Rockville, which has over 50 employees and over $5M in revenue. Specific criteria include a commitment to their employees and customers and invested time, energy, and resources in the Rockville community.
 
This year's winner is CarePlus, Inc., and the award will be presented by the 2023 Large Business of the Year Award, Darcars Automotive Group.
 
The Nonprofit of the Year Award recognizes outstanding practices among Rockville's diverse nonprofit organizations. Specific criteria include success in creating a lasting and beneficial impact for Rockville residents and setting a solid example for other nonprofits.
 
This year's award winner is Interfaith Works and will be presented by the 2023 Nonprofit of the Year, Comfort Cases.

Entrepreneur of the Year Award recognizes a person who works for or operates a business taking on financial risk to do so, identifies a need that no existing businesses address, and determines a solution for that need. Additionally, although "entrepreneur"; is often associated with startups and small businesses, any founder of a successful household-named business began as an entrepreneur. Specific criteria include year-over-year growth, innovation, resilience, flexibility, a unique business and marketing strategy, and a proven commitment to the Rockville community and businesses.
 
This year's winner is Margarita Womack of Latin Goodness Foods/MasPanadas and the award will be presented by the 2023 Entrepreneur of the Year, Glenn Noble of Proudly Give.
 
Young Professional of the Year Award recognizes an individual who is active in the Young Professional group of our Chamber and steps up to a leadership role within their organization. Specific criteria include tenacity and an exemplary commitment to the Rockville community and businesses. 

This year's Young Professional winner is Luke Fleck of Eastern Title & Settlement and will be presented by last year's YP winner, Shane Senior of Cornerstone Montgomery.

Community Service Award - Epic Events has been providing free photo booths for all of our ribbon cuttings and Cocktails & Commerce.  Jared is a strong believer in giving back to the community and plays full out.

Community Service Award– Jared Rosen of Epic Events

 

 

The emcee this year is Laz. With 27 years of experience and just 42 years old, Laz has always been the outlier. An industry veteran, leader and mentor, Laz's clients have included major multi-national corporations and some of the world's most valuable sports franchises. He's produced celebrity events, stadium openings, live concerts, product launches, multi-day conferences, as well as multi-cultural, same-sex, destination and backyard weddings from Miami to Banff, NYC to Beverly Hills, Guadalajara to DC. As an MC he acts as a host, frontman, keynote speaker and facilitator for social and corporate clients all over North America. As a corporate speaker, Laz has developed a topic he calls "The Psychology of the Guest", which delves into empathy and how to approach the sales process in a way that truly allows for a customized experience. Over his career, Laz has been fortunate to win just about every award there is in the special events industry on a local, national and international level. He's been named Entertainment Producer of the Year (6x), been a producer and entertainer for Event of the Year (4x) and Non-Profit Event of the Year (2x), and had the honor of being named Entertainer of the Year and Event Producer of the Year among others.

In 2016, with his partner and DJ, J Element, Laz created The 01. The 01 ("the one") is a fully customizable and scalable entertainment act that utilizes The Psychology of the Guest to create transcendent experiences that your guests will remember for the rest of their lives.
